Raphanus sativus is a homoeopathic medicine prepared from the fresh black garden radish, belonging to the Brassicaceae family. Traditionally used for its digestive and biliary properties, this medicine acts prominently on the digestive tract, liver, nervous system, and female reproductive organs. It is particularly suited for conditions involving trapped flatulence, hepatic disorders, nervous excitability, hysterical complaints, and post-operative abdominal distension. It addresses symptoms like tympanitic swelling, "globus" sensations, sexual insomnia, nymphomania, and emotional disturbances marked by sadness and aversion. Raphanus is highly indicated when there is a complete suppression of flatus, leading to painful bloating and abdominal constriction.
