Atista indica, commonly known by its other names Bannimbu, Vanamenibuka, and Keimira, is a homoeopathic medicine derived from the plant Atista Indica. Belonging to the Rutaceae family, it has been traditionally valued for its therapeutic properties in treating digestive and circulatory disorders, particularly biliary colic, flatulence, and diarrhea. In homoeopathy, Atista indica is primarily used to address symptoms such as indigestion, colicky pain, and gastric discomfort. It is also employed for its effects on improving memory, alleviating vertigo, and supporting general vitality, especially during periods of fever and exhaustion.

SBL’s Atista indica can be helpful in the following conditions:

 Abdominal Discomfort and Digestive Issues

  • Atista indica helps relieve biliary colic, flatulence, and abdominal discomfort, as well as diarrhea (including watery stools during fever).
  • It addresses indigestion (especially from worm infestations), frequent eructation after meals, and heartburn occurring 3-4 hours after eating.
  • It alleviates colicky pain around the navel, tenesmus, and drawing pain in the renal region.

Memory and Mental Weakness

  • Addresses weak memory and indifferent mood, often linked to general vigourlessness.
  • Known to assist in cases of vertigo, especially in the mornings, and gnawing pain in one temple at a time.
  • Increased hearing sensitivity and humming sounds in the ear.

Fever

  • Relieves symptoms of fever, which typically presents with chills (without thirst) followed by intense thirst during the heat stage.
  • Fever usually appears between 5-10 A.M. and subsides by 3-4 A.M., often occurring every alternate day.
  • The pulse is initially full, hard, and quick during the fever, but becomes weak and slow post-fever remission.

Eye and Throat Discomfort

  • Helps with persistent inflammation of the tonsils lasting a few weeks after fever.
  • Dry coryza and nosebleeds are also addressed.
  • Photophobia and discomfort in the eyes, with trembling of light before the eyes upon waking, can be alleviated.

Unusual Hunger and Gastric Discomfort

  • Canine hunger (extreme hunger) is noted, alongside aversion to liquid foods and a strong desire for lime-juice.
  • Throbbing pain at the pit of the stomach and heaviness in the stomach after meals are common.

Sexual Dysfunction

  • No sexual desire and erection at night without any cause.
  • Electric-like throbbing sensations in the urethra for a few seconds.
