Arsenicum sulphuratum rubrum is a homoeopathic medicine prepared from the Red Sulphide of Arsenic (Realgar – Asâ‚‚Sâ‚‚), through trituration. It was introduced and proved by Neidhard. It is chiefly helpful in skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, acne, and furuncles, as well as gastritis, influenza with sciatica as a complication, and neuralgia. Patients needing this medicine often show burning pains, marked chilliness, and symptoms that turn worse at night.

Skin Conditions

  • Help in psoriasis, eczema, acne, and furuncles.
  • Helps with itching in various parts of the body.

Stomach and Digestive Complaints

  • Addresses burning in the stomach described as "like coals of fire," worse by drinking cold water.
  • Sharp, cutting pains in the left side of the abdomen after meals.
  • Sensation of weight and gnawing in the stomach.

Diarrhoea

  • Manages diarrhoea with yellow, mushy stools, occurring early in the morning after rising and again in the evening before bed.
  • Constant tenesmus (straining) in the anus accompanies the stool.

Head and Neuralgia

  • Severe, continued pain deep in the brain in the right frontal region and right ear, worse from stooping and exercise, better from cold application, and worse around 5 p.m.
  • Waking with dull pain in the forehead over the eyes, spreading over the top of the head to the crown.
  • Pain starting at the back of the head and spreading around the sides.
  • Neuralgia on the right side of the face, nose, jaw, and through the temple.

Mouth and Throat

  • Mucous membranes of the mouth and throat are inflamed.
  • Right tonsil enlarged.
  • Intolerable itching in the throat that triggers a short, dry, expulsive cough.
  • Hoarseness with thick, sticky mucus in the throat.

Chest and Heart

  • Wakes at 5 a.m. with a sharp, cutting pain starting between the cartilages of the 5th and 6th ribs, going inward and upward into the chest, worse with the slightest motion.
  • Occasional sharp pains through the base of the heart that interfere with breathing.

Backache and Painful Limbs

  • Heavy, pressing pain from the tip of the coccyx to the anus after rising in the morning, with soreness of the coccyx.
  • Pain in the anus worse from straining at stool or urination.
  • Rheumatism running from the right shoulder down the arm, felt as if in the bone.
  • Pain in the right hip with lameness of the leg.
  • Severe pain in the left shin (tibia).
  • Joints remain stiff and immovable during recovery from acute symptoms.

Chilliness and Convulsions

  • Marked chilliness, felt even while sitting in front of a hot stove.
  • Restless sleep with very vivid dreams.
  • Irritability, with the person acting with unusual energy despite feeling unwell.
  • Convulsions and numbness have also been noted.
  • Most symptoms are worse at night and worse on waking.
